Dodol







Dodol is is a delicacy popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. In Malaysia dodol is famous in Malaccaand Muar , Johor.

It is made with coconut milk, jaggery, rice flour, and sometimes cashews, and is sticky, thick and sweet. It is mostly served during festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji. Usually Dodol is synonymous with Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.There are different versions of Dodol available including a Durian flavor available in Asian food stores. Making dodol can be considered very complicated,because it take a lot of time.We can see people gather together to stir the huge wok of dodol for several hours.Dodol having some similarities with the Chinese New Year food nien kau. Both uses flour and sugar. Both take a long, long time to cook. But the dodol tastes better because it has coconut milk.
