Terengganu






The state of Terengganu overlooks the South China Sea on the east side of Malaysia.A charming holiday destination, Terengganu has a stretch of beautiful beaches and even more spectacular islands. Terengganu has beaches, exotic islands, lush virgin tropical jungle, quaint fishing villages, dazzling waterfalls and many more.

Terengganu capital state is Kuala Terengganu.The state is divided into seven districts of Besut, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Setiu. Popularly known as the ‘Land of Turtles’, many turtle species such as Olive Ridleys and Leatherbacks come to nest on its beaches each year. Terengganu's population, which stands at approximately 1 million people, consists of 90% Malays, with the rest being made up of Chinese and Indians. It has a total area of 12,995 sq. km, and shares a border with Kelantan on the northwest, with Pahang on the southwest, and its east with the South China Sea.

Terengganu has a strong tropical monso on climate, with relatively uniform temperature within the 21°C to 32°C range. Terengganu's average rainfall is 2,032 mm to 2540 mm per year, with the most rain falling between Novembers till January.

In the Terengganu state, there are many interesting and very attractive destination to visit as there are numerous interesting traditional cultures and architectures here in Terengganu. There are some interesting places in Terengganu where some of these tourist attractions include the bustling Pasar Payang, the grand Maziah Palace, Rantau Abang Beach, China Town and as well as the infamous Tanjung Jara. Aside from these places in Terengganu, the rest of the attractions are located at the islands surrounding the Terengganu state such as the Redang Islands, the Perhentian Island, the Kapas Island and the Lang Tengah Island. Today, many people going to Terengganu to escape from the busy city life and participate in recreational and relaxation activities by the beach.


Tourist Attractions:

Rantau Abang: Rantau Abang is located about 60km south of Kuala Terengganu. There, visitors can watch great number of giant leatherback turtles came to Rantau Abang to lay their eggs between May and August. Turtle crawl slowly on the white sand to lay their eggs, leaving the impression to the visitors and wonderful experience. Rantau Abang is one of six locations in the world are visited by the turtles.



Muzium Terengganu: Muzium State was established in 1976. This is the largest museum complex in Southeast Asia, by placing the four main blocks apart a maritime museum and five traditional houses. It was beautifully landscaped gardens, and restores the glory of Terengganu rich cultural history which remains until today. Located on 27 hectares of land in Bukit completely, Kuala Terengganu, highlight the complex architecture of interest takes inspiration from the old palace in the City. It houses a major museum, maritime museum, museum, fishing, four traditional houses and botanic gardens and garden salad. The main museum has a gallery displaying the textile, weaving techniques, traditional weapons, the development of petroleum, Islamic art and more.



Pasar Payang:It located near Terengganu river and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kuala Terengganu. Payang Market offers a variety of traditional crafts such as batik, silk, songket, brocade cloth and metal goods, and fresh vegetables at reasonable prices. It is also a place to observe and understand the culture here.


Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque: Known as the 'Floating Mosque', a combination of modern architecture and the 'Moor'.It looks unique and beautiful at night. The mosque was built on a floating platform, giving it a unique angle.It is located in River City. Construction of this mosque is actually inspired by the late Sultan of Terengganu, Al-late Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Al-Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah late. The mosque is named after his mother, Tuanku Intan Zaharah binti Tengku Seri Setia Raja.
