Lemang






Lemang is a popular traditional dish among Malaysia people.It can be found easily everywhere in Malaysia, especially during festival days such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha.Lemang is rich in carbohydrate and cholesterol.

It was rice that cooked in a bamboo.Lemang is made of glutinous rice,salt and coconut milk(santan).The glutinous rice is also first washed and soaked in water for a few hours to soften it.A coconut milk added with some salt ,is then poured into the bamboo containerSome people also add some corn. Lemang is usually eaten with chicken curry (rending) or something that spicy.


To cook this special Malay delicacy will usually take a few hours.The bamboos is heated over an open fire. A bamboo stem with a hole inside about 50cm long and 6-8cm in diameter is used as the container to cook the rice.A banana leaves are usually put inside the bamboo to avoid the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Before serving, the bamboo is first cut and broken into half, and the leaf-wrapped cooked rice is removed. Then it is cut into smaller slices, usually about one inch in thickness.

-A bamboo.
-Young banana leaves (daun pisang).
-Glutinous rice.
-1 coconut milk (santan).
-Salt.
